years ago, i will say in the air and certainly in temperatures of temperature, but certainly the obama administration that hopes maybe coming out of some of the celebration still in the air here they'll start or try to bring the country together. you mentioned that vice-president biden will be going first, in just a few moments, justice sonia sotomayor will swear him in and he and the president will be at arlington national cemetery laying a wreath at the tomb of unknown and in the blue room hine me on the aren't side because the constitution says he needs to be sworn in on january 20th and the ceremonial stuff will happen on the capitol west front tomorrow. some of the celebration started yesterday, a children's inaugural ball the first lady went to along with dr. jill biden and trying to get folks involved this and also the president and first lady participating in a day of service, they participated in a project here, service project here in washington d.c. and they had a lot of cabinet members, the vice-president and others doing that as well and when the president had a chance to

remember that inspiring call from president obama exactly four years, to end partisan politics. if you were keeping score, and we are, that promise would actually fall into the incomplete category. promises considered, mostly clept, more jobs and a middle class tax break, ending the wars in iraq and afghanistan and, of course, making health care accessible for all. tomorrow morning the president will be making even more promises. the question though, can he keep them? back with me now bill schneider, resident fellow for the think tank and lynn sweet of the chicago sun times." bill, your organization spends a fair amount of time on important issues of the day. what promises can we expect to hear from president obama tomorrow? >> immigration reform. i mean, that's something he neglected in his first term and didn't give it any real priority, and it's very important. really helped him get elected, re-elected rather. guns will come up, i think, because the mood is right for that. i'm not sure how far he'll be able to go with that because of the resistance in the house, but he'll fight the good

for office. he promised to pay down the deficit at least half in his first term. the first two years of his first term he had a democratic congress house and senate. he could have done anything he wanted. instead he put through an $800 billion stimulus bill and a $1.7 trillion obama care. if he wasn't going to address it then, when is he going to address it? he is essentially holding congress hostage right now and the american people with these scare tactics. >> okay, newt gingrich addressed this whole issue on "cbs this morning" and i'll read you what he said. "it isn't a smart fight for congressional republicans to pick, because in the end, it's a threat they can't sustain. no one is going to default, no one will allow the united states to not pay its bills, no one is going to accept the economic costs. it rallies the entire business community to the president's side." so even newt gingrich says this isn't a wise fight to pick. you may feel strongly about spending cuts but this isn't the right time to fight. >> when is the right time? when is the right time? because the spending cuts neve
